Ageing Well Denbighshire

To volunteer at this event please see here

In partnership with DVSC our first public engagement campaign,  ageing well Denbighshire  #AgeingWellDenbighshire creates lots of opportunities for members of the public to volunteer and DVSC is working in partnership with a wide range of third sector organisations involved in supporting older people in Denbighshire.

You can find out more about the organisations and projects and who need volunteers on this page –

We are also holding two public engagement events to let the public and interested organisations know about this campaign.

The first on Tuesday March 7, 10-12:30 at Llangollen Health Centre

The second on Thursday March 9 at the Artisans Collective, Prestatyn Old Library.

At these events, people can find out about interesting volunteer opportunities, which can really make a difference to an older person’s life here in Denbighshire whilst participating in a range of fun activities, meeting DVSC team members, and finding out about DVSC, the Third Sector and our activities.

We’d be grateful if you will spread the word about these events and our website to friends, family, and colleagues.

We will also provide updates @DVSC_Wales so please follow us on twitter if you don’t already.

We want to encourage as many people to get involved in our campaign as possible so that together we create a buzz about #DenbighshireVolunteers, #AgeingWellDenbighshire and increase awareness about the great opportunities available in Denbighshire.

So if you want to be the link that helps changes someone’s life, please share the information about our website, campaign and events to as many people as possible. And if you have any ideas, or partnership opportunities you wish to discuss please don’t hesitate to make contact with a member of the team.

At The Old Library we do not have any public toilets within the building but have use of toilets including disabled within 40 metres.

Abergele Dementia Friendly Community Meeting

Prestatyn dementia friendly community at Artisans Collective CIC

We are delighted to invite you to Abergele Dementia Friendly Public meeting.

Peter of Artisans Collective CIC will be attending as chair of Prestatyn Dementia Community to help Abergele start their journey towards being recognised.

There will be two meetings on the same day. This should hopefully allow more people to attend

Thursday 9th February at 2.00pm in Abergele Library, Market Street, Abergele

Thursday 9th February at 6.00pm in Depearture Lounge, Market Street Abergele. (Upstairs)

We will have 2 guest speakers from Prestatyn and Flint Dementia Friendly Communities, who will talk about their successes and also Mr David Gozzard, who has brilliantly volunteered himself as the Chair of the Abergele Dementia Friendly Community Steering Group.

As you may know, last year we put a lot of effort in to getting the process started. We had one of the largest turn outs for public meetings for Dementia Friendly Communities.

So far in North Wales there are 5 communities with official recognition status:
1. Mold
2. Flint
3. Buckley
4. Prestatyn
5. Porthmadog

There are a number of other communities currently working towards recognition (all at different stages):
• Hope, Caegwrle and Cymau
• Wrexham Borough
• Denbigh
• Llanfairfechan
• Llanrwst
• Abergele
• Bontnewydd and surrounding area
• Seiriol Ward, Anglesey

There are two organisations that have received status in their own right, which are:
• North Wales Fire and Rescue Service
• Wrexham Football Club

With a further 3 organisations working towards recognition:
• North Wales Police
• Cartrefi Conwy
• Betsi Cadwalader

Please let me know if you plan to attend.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards
