Junior Art and Crafts each Saturday morning with Jayne at the Old Library

Kids bunnies made by the Saturday junior artisans

Each Saturday morning our junior artisans club meet from 10am for a couple of hours of fun and creativity with Jayne a fully qualified childcare practitioner.

Now in its 3rd year the Saturday group consists of children aged between 4 and 11 years of age. We carry out all sorts of art and craft projects usually in response to what the participants suggest the previous week.

We also take part in activities such as Grow Wild, Voluntary Arts week and other national events.

The maximum size of the group is 10 with a mix of boys and girls.

The cost is £5 per child with free refreshments and the group get to bring home their creations each week.

Men’s Shed Prestatyn Tuesday Social get together

Artisans Collective CIC have facilitated Prestatyn Men’s shed for over 2 years and have seen it develop from a handful of members to over 50. The group also now have separate workshop facilities in Prestatyn.

We still meet socially each Tuesday at The Old Library where we enjoy the facilities offered by Artisans Collective free of charge.

A Men’s Shed is a community project with the aim of promoting men’s health and well being through social interaction and practical activity.

‘Men’s Sheds’ are social groups or enterprises set up in local communities for the benefit of men.

They are self-governed, self- supported and sustainable with a small committee; their own individual constitution, their own income and eventually their own premises.

How each individual shed looks and the activities that take place in them depend entirely on the skills and interests of the group.

You’d be forgiven for thinking a man’s shed is all about making things out of wood. While many are wood-working groups there is also a huge array of other activity on offer.

Shedders are artists, collectors, story-tellers, amateur radio enthusiasts, train spotters, model makers…..Anyone is welcome and any interest, skill or project is given equal consideration – especially if it could attract new members or gain valuable income to support the development of the entire group.

We are affiliated to Men’s Sheds Cymru, and supported by Artisans Collective CIC. Prestatyn Town Council have been and continue to be very supportive of the project.

The ‘Older People’s Commissioner for Wales‘ acknowledges that the Men’s Sheds are desperately needed in Wales with older men here being the loneliest people in the UK

There are currently well over a hundred Men’s Sheds in the UK either already established or in the planning stage but relatively few in North Wales.

The nearest to Prestatyn is the Rhyl Men’s Shed which currently meets on a Monday and Tuesday at 119 Wellington Road in the town.

There are also Men’s Sheds either already established or in the beginning stages in  Colwyn Bay Llandudno, Denbigh, Llanrwst, and Blaenau Ffestiniog with others in the planning stage.

Adult Art Friday Group with Aimee

Adult art group logo

Each Friday our informal adult art group meet in Prestatyn under the watchful eye of our Aimee and create some wonderful masterpieces.

The aim of this art group is to bring people together, share ideas, techniques, socialise, make art/crafts and have fun.

I truly believe that art make a significant contribution to improving lives, health and well being.

Many people’s lives are enhanced by the arts. The arts are enjoyed and valued as part of our personal well being and development, and as part of community life. Through the arts we can express and fulfil ourselves, and engage with other people in ways that other forms of communication do not offer.

We also get involved with regional and national initiatives such as Voluntary arts week.

Cost £3 with free refreshments
